A member of the NAU Varsity Football Team (Letter-Winner 1971-1972) and the Zeta Omicron Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He peacefully passed into the Chapter Eternal Wednesday evening, here in Phoenix, with family by his side, after suffering cardiac arrest. Tom was 74.

Tom transferred to NAU from Fullerton Junior College and pledged Sigma Chi at Zeta Omicron Chapter during the Fall semester of 1971. Tom was a Running Back for NAU Varsity Football during the 1971 and 1972 seasons. During the 1972 season, Tom was a season leader, scoring 34 points, with 755 yards rushed, and 817 yards all-purpose. The Lumberjacks were playing at the old open-air Lumberjack Stadium. You could hear the Sigma Chi fans chanting:

"RAH, RAH, 35 !! TOMMY ROGERS, SIGMA CHI !!"

Upon graduation in May 1973, Tom entered the NFL Kansas City Chiefs training/try-out camp catching passes from Len Dawson, going the entire time only to be cut on the final day.
